Making Your EYK List

Creating your List - Please adjust your headset or speaker volume

After having set up your website, made sure you know your Company's 'Sizzle Line' No and your sponsor's availability, you really do need to approach the most important aspect of your business. It's no good having a business and keeping it a secret. Probably the No 1 cause of failure in our industry, is the 'Secret Agent' mentality or, even worse, an arrogance that, although we saw sufficient in our opportunity that we got started, we make judgements about many of the people we know, that they wouldn't see in it anything of value! In which case, either we're idiots for taking on something no-one else can see of value, or we're idiots for not asking them to take a look.

So, before we ask them to take a look, who are we asking. Well no self respecting business person, doesn't commit their information to paper. They will have list of their staff, their suppliers, their customers and their prospects. Just as you, or your partner, will have birthday lists, Xmas card lists, lists of trades people, etc,  as well as, a telephone list of all your friends, family and work contacts.

Now is the time to get this list down on one list in some semblance of order and I suggest a the following information, in a format initially like this:

Name

Home Tel

Mobile No

Email address

Town

Grade

Date

Recontact

Note

Result

Don't worry about whatever information is missing, still put down the name, and worry about the rest later.

WHO DO YOU KNOW?

Your 100 Name 'Everyone-You-Know' (EYK) List

One of the most important things you will do to start your new business is to write a list of everyone you know. This should be the first thing you do before you speak to anyone about the business. Don't stop until you have at least one hundred names. This should not be a list of everyone you think would like to be a customer or everyone you think would like to be a rep. This is a list of EVERYONE. Don't prejudge anyone - it could cost you thousands later!

Keep in mind that EVERYBODY can benefit from owning their own home based business, as an Independent Representative to make money or, if they decide not, they can still become your Customer. Don't pre-judge people by assuming they don't have a need for the products or wouldn't want to get involved in your business. You wouldn't have appreciated someone making the decision about whether you should have got involved in your new business for you, so make sure you don't make the decisions for others.

Why a 100 Name List?

John Kalench, in his book "Being The Best You Can Be in MLM", writes...

"The most common mistake made by new distributors is that when they first make that decision to go out there and start talking to people about the products and opportunity, three, four or five people they know immediately come to mind. They don't write these people down, they just think of three, four or five people. Then they immediately pick up the phone and call one of them.

Chances are that person may not be interested for a variety of reasons, most of which have nothing to do with your new distributor. And if their first phone call is to someone who's not interested, that's one out of three or one out of five who say 'No'. They've just lost 20 or 30 percent of their prospects! That's a real bad start. But when you have a list of 100 people, and you call up that first person and for whatever reason he or she isn't interested, you can easily say, 'that's okay, I'll just check you off my list for now'. One percent. No big deal."

3 Simple Steps to enable you to achieve over 100 names...

Step 1: List absolutely everyone you know, or have known  - don't pre-judge anyone (how would you have liked someone else to have made a decision about Excel for you??)... just list out on paper every name you've ever had in your head. If you don't recall their name or phone number, jot down something that reminds you of them.

Step 2: Using the Memory Jogger, go through every category on the memory jogger and make sure that person is on your EYK list, adding names as you go for anyone you initially missed off.

Step 3: Use F.R.O.G.S. to trigger additional names. Starting with the first name on your list, thinking just about that person, considering who that person knows, has known, or is in any way connected to now or in the past under the following categories...

Family & friends

Recreation (social/sport/hobbies/pastimes)

Occupation (jobs - past and present)

Geography (where they live now or have lived)

Same name (same first name - same surname)

Follow these 3 simple steps, and you will easily build a list of 100+ names on your EYK List.
